In the summer of 2005, over 3,500 athletes and officials from 63 nations gathered for the second Deaflympics held in the Southern Hemisphere.

Event Planning Group (EPG) was tasked by the Melbourne 2005 Deaflympics Organising Committee (M2005) to review, develop, and implement the logistics program for all temporary venues constructed for the event in the regional city of Ballarat.
