The 2022 FIFA World Cup was the first to be held in the Middle East, marking a historic moment for Qatar. EPG, engaged by the Supreme Committee (SC) for Delivery & Legacy since 2020, provided strategic and operational services across multiple areas of the event. With all venues in close proximity, the event posed unique challenges for stakeholders.

EPG conducted a ‘Health Check’ of key event planning components to assess progress and recommend adjustments. Our team reviewed over 630 documents, held 138 meetings with stakeholders, and delivered a 300-page report, identifying gaps and proposing solutions. Many of our recommendations were adopted by SC leadership.

Additionally, EPG led the ‘Visitor Experience’ project in collaboration with the Marketing team. We developed a Qatar-wide experience masterplan, addressing operational areas such as accessibility, security, transport, and sustainability, while providing commercial frameworks for opportunities totalling over 1B QAR.

EPG also conducted a review of the Overlay (OVL) SC project area, offering recommendations that supported successful delivery. We led value engineering workshops and provided insights for optimizing resource allocation.

Finally, EPG developed the ‘Master Delivery Schedule,’ working closely with SAO and Q22 teams to ensure alignment across 52 HC and 39 Q22 project areas. We analysed over 1,500 documents and provided recommendations for improving governance, procurement, and workforce planning, concluding with a risk and issues summary to mitigate potential challenges.
