XXVIII Winter Universaide, Almaty Winter University Games

EPG develops the Master Plan for the Winter Universaide

On the 29th November 2011, the University Sport Federation (FISU) announced that the unofficial southern capital of Kazakhstan, Almaty, would host the XXVIII Winter Universaide. The Universaide or ‘World University Games’ as it is often referred, is an international multi-sport event for university athletes. With one-third of its population under the age of thirty (30), Almaty is a perfect destination for this competition, which incorporates educational and cultural activity into its eleven (11) days of competition for university student-athletes worldwide. More than 2500 athletes from fifty plus (50+) countries will compete across six (6) compulsory sports and three (3) optional sports.

The EPG team was engaged by the organising committee to assist in strategic planning for the event, playing an integral role in the development of the master plan for the event. Our team took a comprehensive approach providing games wide input into the master plan, firstly understanding the requirements of the organisers and its stakeholders, then determining the delivery feasibility of the requirements and finally developing solutions to meet the event requirements.
